This weekend was just bananas! Some of the highlights included, babysitting Dengs and spending quality time with him & Miles together, watching Manny Pacquiao win another great fight, and meeting Kool Herc, one of the founders of Hip Hop culture.
Hanging out with Darrien was a treat. He is such a sweet boy with a silly sense of humor. When Miles and him are together--it's like I step into their world--where they have their own quirky language and make up their own games. And life for kids at their age is pretty much just all about playing and using their imagination--so of course I enjoyed myself! The boys got along well and were pretty entertaining. We rode bikes, went on a nature walk, danced, played at the park, had a play date with Stacy, Anthony and Zoe, had a movie night, and spent an afternoon at the Nut Tree.
Saturday night was also a Filipino holiday, a Pacquiao fight.
It's such a big deal. I mean, this is why I was watching Darrien in the first place. His parents were in Vegas with the other 189,138,237,898, 738 Filipinos out there to witness apart of our history unfold. Even the kids knew whats up. When anyone asked Darrien, "Where's your mom & dad?" He replied, "Pacquiao Cotto." My parents, like so many other Filipino households were hosting a fight party and it was great. I'd say the adults were screaming and louder than the kids! It was such a good fight.
Following the fight, Justin and I got to sneak away for a bit and catch Kool Herc spin for the first time. We even got to meet him and weren't planning on getting that chance! So we can die happy. Our cypher is complete. Sike. It was just such an important moment to meet one of the CREATORS and O.G.'s of Hip Hop! Give thanks!
