All Aboard!
Uncle Bob & Aunty Cheryl took the two boys out for a summer Sonoma day at one of the coolest places for kids, Train Town. Thanks for spending time with these boys Bobawts. Miles knew it was a special day because it was just you two with him and Dengs!
If you know Darrien, you know this is his ish, train tracks!
And if you know Miles, you know Donkey Kong on an arcade is his ish too.
Miles and Darrien are soooo....
....cousins!
Bobawts and their twins (for the day)!
The plane ride was their favorite.

Leaving the Nest
Milesʻ last week of school was bittersweet! Justin and I held a DJ workshop with Milesʻ class, introducing the 4 & 5 year olds to Hip Hop. His classmates were pretty excited to learn some skratches. While I set up, Justin read, Turntable Timmy, to the class as an introduction to what we were going to do. By the end of the class, all the kids were on the floor breakinʻ to electro while one of them was on the turntable, skratching! Hiphop is truly an innate gift that kids have. According to Mrs. Szasz & Ms. Wilson, the kids left feeling inspired, creating turntables with paper plates, popsicle sticks, and construction paper. Justin and I received a big card from the class which Iʻd love to put up in the music room.
The night before the celebration, I helped with the decorations, putting up their art work, balloons, flower planting, and more.
"I Want To Be..." Wall (Guess what he wants to be?)
By the end of his last week, families were invited to attend the preschool show & celebration. Milesʻ last day in class, he got into the car telling me, "Iʻm going to miss preschool and all the friends I made," feeling growing pains already.Milesʻ Preschool Ceremony from Mama Feelgood on Vimeo.
Miles was excited to sing, telling me that he & his BFF, Ace Conelly, have been practicing together. He asked me questions about being nervous when I have to DJ for people. I told him, "I always am. Iʻm nervous cause I always want to do good but as soon as I start performing it all goes away and I just have fun." Miles replied with, "I feel shy sometimes but I love to sing and I want to do my best!"
Miles started this preschool program late, being on a wait list and getting in during October 2010. But his transition from homeschool to Eaglesʻ Nest was smooth, all thanks to his teachers. We are pretty thankful for Mrs. Szasz & Ms. Wilson, who have instilled in him a love for learning in school, making him more ready for kinder. I hope Miles will continue to have great teachers who truly love their job, making learning fun!

Giant Redwoods
After planning a day trip to Big Sur to visit the giant Redwoods with Aunty Lea, we finally made the 3 hour trek. It felt great to be back, feeling the antiquity of the forest and some of the ancient trees that have probably been around since before California was Mexico. Upon our arrival, we were greeted at the parking lot by a strange but beautiful blue bird. It really felt as if this bird were there to welcome us. Along our hike, I would see the bird flying above and around us.
We found the giant Redwood with the nook.
Of course these pictures donʻt do justice to how huge these trees really are until you see the size in comparison with people...
It was a perfect sunny but breezy day to hike the Pfiefer Fall trail. It was Aunty Leaʻs first time seeing the Redwoods up close. We were amazed by how gigantic the ancient ones were. It was really something to just stand back and take in.
Miles looked below and found little pine cones that someday might grow.
To baby Redwoods like this one...
It was a good day to unplug and dust off the matrix and be healed by the spirits of the ancient forest. We learned about the Redwoods we visited and saw how the timeline of historic moments fit along the rings of a Redwood.
We hiked up along the side of the mountain. Miles wanted to hold my hand the whole way! Aunty Lea thought I was being an overprotective mom (haha!) but I was actually trying to shake my hand free from Miles. What can I say, heʻs a mamaʻs boy!
When we finally got to the waterfall, we sat back to listen to the fall and just breathe in the fresh air.
Miles was having fun climbing on top of all the big boulders. The blue bird decided to land and stare back at us. It was really as though it guided us there, allowing us to take photos of it and watch it for a long while. "Itʻs our new friend,"Miles decided.
We checked out one of the bird guide pamphlets at the local shop and found out the blue bird was named, Stellar Jay.
Then it was time to say good bye to the water fall...
Goodbye to the Redwoods...
It was refreshing to be surrounded by ancient giants. Miles was pretty proud of himself to walk about 3 miles on his own (without his dad there to give him a lift)!
As soon as we arrived back to SF, it was time to treat ourselves to the best froyo ever...
Thank you, Aunty Lea, for the great adventure outdoors! Next up is the Petrified Forest of Calistoga!
