Leaving the Nest

Milesʻ last week of school was bittersweet! Justin and I held a DJ workshop with Milesʻ class, introducing the 4 & 5 year olds to Hip Hop. His classmates were pretty excited to learn some skratches. While I set up, Justin read, Turntable Timmy, to the class as an introduction to what we were going to do. By the end of the class, all the kids were on the floor breakinʻ to electro while one of them was on the turntable, skratching! Hiphop is truly an innate gift that kids have. According to Mrs. Szasz & Ms. Wilson, the kids left feeling inspired, creating turntables with paper plates, popsicle sticks, and construction paper. Justin and I received a big card from the class which Iʻd love to put up in the music room.

The night before the celebration, I helped with the decorations, putting up their art work, balloons, flower planting, and more.
"I Want To Be..." Wall (Guess what he wants to be?)
By the end of his last week, families were invited to attend the preschool show & celebration. Milesʻ last day in class, he got into the car telling me, "Iʻm going to miss preschool and all the friends I made," feeling growing pains already.

Miles was excited to sing, telling me that he & his BFF, Ace Conelly, have been practicing together. He asked me questions about being nervous when I have to DJ for people. I told him, "I always am. Iʻm nervous cause I always want to do good but as soon as I start performing it all goes away and I just have fun." Miles replied with, "I feel shy sometimes but I love to sing and I want to do my best!"
Miles started this preschool program late, being on a wait list and getting in during October 2010. But his transition from homeschool to Eaglesʻ Nest was smooth, all thanks to his teachers. We are pretty thankful for Mrs. Szasz & Ms. Wilson, who have instilled in him a love for learning in school, making him more ready for kinder. I hope Miles will continue to have great teachers who truly love their job, making learning fun!

Miles will definitely miss his buddies but we are planning on summer play dates with his friends.

His other BFF, Angel.
Miles enjoyed his preschool celebration and was happy to share the moment with Papo, Nanay, and Dengs!
The learning and exploring will go on during the summer at home and on his 1 month vacation in Hawaii!
