Black & Orange

It's been both sunny & warm and cold & rainy here in the Bay. We've been enjoying the fall season, watching the leaves turn from green to red, orange, and yellow. And it's been fun watching the Giants beat the Phillies and play in the World Series! When it's sunny, we spend it outdoors and Miles and Darrien run wild. One day, we took them to the waterfront to watch the ferries depart for San Francisco, full of Giants fans, going to the game at the Ballpark.
At home, Darrien & Miles are busy, making up games of their own, building train tracks, constructing buildings out of cardboard, and pretending they are chefs.
One afternoon, they formed a boy band with their dads.
Check it out, the father & son jam!
Miles also had dinner with aunties & uncles and brings Backpack Bear along.
He hung out with Aunty Cathy before she leaves for Japan. He will definitely miss her but plans to be her penpal!
Miles has also been hanging out with Aunty Cheryl & Uncle Bob in SF. After the Giants beat the Phillies, we celebrated with desert from Mel's.
I wish he opened his mouth that wide for vegetables!
With a pumpkin patch down the street from our home, Miles picked pumpkins and spent an hour jumping and sliding.
Our boy has gone mad!
Backpack Bear has been apart of our everyday life as Miles has taken his tour guide roll very seriously before he departs to Hollywood to visit Lucy. He's had him sit with us for lunch and dinner, taking him for rides and adventures everyday.
Miles' cactus wish came true when he visited The Cactus Jungle with Backpack Bear.
He also spent many days with Backpack Bear in SF.
We enjoyed one of most beautiful days in SF, walking along the piers with Aunty Cheryl.
Miles has been an enthusiastic tour guide for Backpack Bear and somewhat dreaded today because we are sending him off to Hollywood for more adventures there.
This morning, Miles asked, "Mom, are Backpack Bear's adventures up?" I had to reassure him that he was going on more adventures but this time with Lucy.
Before Backpack Bear leaves, Miles asked to show him the Giants' ball park because they are one of his favorite teams and we have been spending too much time watching TV during the play offs and the World Series!
Miles learned a little about Willie Mays and other Giants Hall of Fame players honored along the ball park.
He's been pretty busy in school and out of school!
Speaking of school, Miles has a lot of fun baking, singing & dancing, reading books, and playing games with his classmates. His teachers have told me some funny stories about what he says and does in class. For Halloween, they made their own costumes and decorated Halloween bags. Miles told his teacher, "I can write the word, boo. But I like to write it with a question mark." (I think he means to write it with an exclamation mark instead) But the way he writes his question marks are upside down, so they look more like a lower-case b. Anyway, his teacher, Mrs. Wilson, showed me this bag with the words boo written twice with question marks so it looked more like "boob"!! I tried to keep my laughter down!
Another story his teacher, Mrs. Sousz, shared was during the morning they baked apple pies. She said Miles was measuring the flour, saying "1/2 cup plus 1/2 cup equals 1 whole cup."
I'm glad Miles wakes up easily to get up for school and eager to be in class. I take it as a good sign!
On the weekend, Miles always asks, "Can I sleep over nanay's house? Please?" He use to have the occasional mid-week sleep overs at nanay's house when he was just homeschooled and Justin and I had gigs. But now, he can only sleep there when it isn't a school night. On Thursday last week, nanay told me that Miles reminded her, "One more day nanay, and I'm going to sleep here." Before papo left for the Philippines last weekend, he brought in a new bed for Miles in their bedroom for when Miles sleeps over. It's made Miles feel more like he has a permanent place at nanay's house too. That was sweet of my parents. So on Fridays and Saturday nights, Justin and I are just losers, missing Miles! Just kidding. We probably should take more advantage of being child-less instead of moping around without him. I would like to go on more dates. That would be nice!
We've been going Giants crazy over here with the rest of the Bay Area! The Saturday Papo left, it was the last play off game between the Giants and the Phillies. We watched it at the airport, along with many Giants fans. Papo left on a good note, cause the Giants beat the Phillies. "Go Gigantes!!" as Miles would say.
So you see, fall has been super exciting for not just Miles, but all of us here in the Bay. SF is going crazy with the Giants. Check it out:

And here is a preview of Halloween for us yesterday...
Hope you had a Happy Halloween! Black and Orange!!!
