I've never been in a crowd of over a million people before. The anti-war rallies in SF during 2003 were pretty intense with hundreds of thousands in attendance, but not a million + people in attendance! It was overwhelming and I felt claustrophobic at some moments, feeling guilty for having these boys with us, worrying about how uncomfortable they must have been feeling at times. But luckily, Nanay packed bottled water, ginger candy, and I had a stash of Halloween treats that held them over and kept them cheerful. I totally forgot to bring the healthy snacks I left in the trunk of the car. Miles and Darrien survived the Giants frenzy and took part of the cheer, especially Darrien, chanting to the top of his lungs, "Let's Go Giants!" I pulled Miles out of school (great parenting!) because this was a once in a lifetime experience. Overall, it was soooo worth it. He got to see the baseball players in real life! His spirits lifted once he saw Tim Lincecum! They were pretty happy with just watching the parade of trolly cars! Here's a taste of what went down on Wednesday in honor of the greatest team EVER!
We were decked out in Orange & Black.
Fear the Beard!
The Coaching Staff
Madison Bumgarner
Travis Ishikawa
Juan Uribe..Ooooh...Ribe!
Pablo "Kung Fu Panda" Sandoval
Matt "Yes We Cain"
Andres Torres
Buster Posey
Tim Lincecum!
MVP Edgar Renteria!
We ran into Uncle Ralph in the sea of millions. What were the odds?!
After hours under the beating sun and screaming fans, we were famished.
We grubbed in J-town.
Nanay hooked the boys up with a toy from the Harajuku store, New People.
Miles was not too happy about his guerilla being pink. Since when did pink become a girl color for Miles? He's growing up (getting socialized) :(
We were relieved that both boys ended up getting the same colored guerilla. It would have caused mayhem if they had different ones.
After playing at Aunty Cheryl's the boys were ready to go.
