The road trip from San Diego to Las Vegas was pretty exciting for Miles, finding all kinds of cactus alongside the desert highways. He especially loved seeing the "flat ones." When we got to his great grandparents house, he was juiced to learn that great grandpa Ernie had cactus in his backyard too!
It was 107 degrees when we were there, so we were pretty much in doors during the day. At night it cooled down to very cold 98 degrees. Every morning, great grandpa Ernie cooked breakfast, then after we ate--he'd start preparing a hearty lunch (followed by dinner with his signature steak). He loves to cook for family and it's pretty amazing at his young age of 85 I believe. He's in great health and refuses help--even with the dishes! Great grandma Lucy, also very independent, plays bingo as often as she could and drives herself to and from her Sante Fe casino during the day sometimes. Miles noticed her bingo dobber collection which she shared with him. He's been using the dobbers for his art projects at home.
Miles also got to hang out with his Aunty Jesseca and Grandpa Danny, hearing stories about his cousin Jesse fishing in North Carolina. He was pretty much all ears once he heard the words, sting ray. At night, we would accompany great grandma Lucy to her bingo games, while gramma tried slot machines, and we went bowling. Even this kid experienced late nights out in Vegas!
Miles would drop the ball with a loud thud, letting it roll slowly towards (or away) from the pins...
Then he would turn around and walk away like this...
...or like this.
Ro & Jus were such professionaly bowlers too...
Go Rohawn!
Go Jus!
It was a good game!
Always a good time with his Kuya Ro!
But besides bowling, we went on the Vegas strip to check out the aquarium at Cesar's Palace.
"Trigger fish...parrot fish..unicorn fish...puffer fish!!" he was pretty excited to see his favorite ones.
The next night, we took great grandma to her bingo game again and you know what we did...
Miles & great grandma Lucy
3 generations!
The next day, we had to get on the road and head back to the bay.
