It's been a good break from the internet, enjoying days and nights with Miles without the preoccupation to write it down or document it. But I know in the process, some of you have probably missed daily news on Miles, right? I will do my best to document some of our days with the boy to share with you once again.
At 5-years-old, Miles has picked up some new favorite things-to-do. In January, Miles' Aunty Xtina & Uncle Arjuna introduced to him the game of Uno. He's pretty much mastered the art of what he calls, "bringing the pain," which translates to dropping those Draw 4 cards, Skip cards, and Draw 2 cards on anyone who stands in his way of winning. He still loves his Friday and Saturday night game cube privileges but at one point said, "How bout we have Uno tournament night instead of video game night?" I was down and pleased about that.
Besides Uno, he has been drawing away, filling up pages of notebooks with pictures of potatoes, bombs, everything Mario, as well as turntables, mixers, and of me with "weird hair." What is this kid getting exposed to here?
The other day, we saw a kid, a little younger then Miles, playing baseball with his dad and grandpa. Miles couldn't stop watching, smiling from ear-to-ear, asking us if he could play that too. So, I bought him a baseball bat and ball (from Ross for only $5.99) and we spent over an hour at the Fire Truck Park by our house. Of course, the bat is not a solid one and the ball is soft-but it will do for now. It's been a good way for mama to get her work out on, chasing the ball as the catcher or pitcher. We played yesterday until the sun went down and Miles could have kept going, saying, "Aw man! Let's play forever."
When we got home, Miles went back to laying on his tummy, drawing away in his notebook. I pretended to whisper over to Jus, "hey dad, Miles draws some cool pictures." He looks up at us with a big grin and says, "Hey I can hear you. My ears are on all the time until I go to sleep, they turn off."
